New agroforestry climate project launched in Switzerland

Coop, one of the largest supermarket chains in Switzerland, has launched a new support programme for agroforestry as part of its voluntary climate protection activities in collaboration with the myclimate foundation and Bio Suisse.

Farmers are financially supported in setting up an agroforestry system. The focus is on wild fruit trees and trees for high value timber that have rarely been planted so far.

Finnish RAIN meeting. Agroforestry starts gaining interest in Finland

The fourth Finnish AFINET workshop was held on 26 February in Joensuu. Michael den Herder, the Innovation Broker of the Finnish AFINET stakeholder network says that agroforestry starts gaining interest in Finland too. The presentations during the first part of the day showed how additional income can be gained from the cultivation of stinging nettle Urtica dioica, American gingseng Panax quinquefolium, mushrooms and hops Humulus lupulus.

Quarta reunião da RAIN portuguesa do projeto AFINET

A quarta reunião da Rede Regional de Inovação Agroflorestal Portuguesa ocorreu no dia 27 de Fevereiro de 2019 no Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) em Lisboa.

A reunião, que contou com 35 participantes, iniciou-se com um breve resumo das atividades do projeto nos últimos seis meses, e uma apresentação dos primeiros materiais de disseminação por Joana Amaral Paulo (CEF/ISA).

Fourth Portuguese RAIN meeting of the AFINET project

The fourth portuguese Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network meeting took place on the 27th of February 2019 at Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) in Lisbon.

35 RAIN members attended the meeting, which started with a brief summary of the project’s activities on the last six months, and a presentation of the first dissemination materials by Joana Amaral Paulo (CEF/ISA).

Agroforestry: Opportunity for European landscape and agriculture (AGFOSY)

International project AGFOSY has a real ambition to build up a complex but at the same time flexible training system dealing with issue of agroforestry based mainly on case studies and best practice studies that will provide farmers with needed skills, knowledge, competences and even the motivation to implement agroforestry on their own farms.

The advantage of international cooperation is the possibility of mutual transfer of experience, because in some European countries, agroforestry is practiced less (such as Czech Republic, Slovakia) than in others (France).

Czwarte spotkanie Sieci na rzecz Innowacji w Agroleśnictwie (RAIN) w SGGW w Warszawie

IV Spotkanie robocze Sieci RAIN miało miejsce 24 stycznia 2018 roku w Szkole Głównej Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego w Warszawie. 26 osób wzięło udział w spotkaniu, w tym 42% z nich stanowili praktycy. Broker Innowacji Centrum Doradztwa Rolniczego w Brwinowie Pan Ireneusz Drozdowski zaprezentował grupy operacyjne, wybrane  w ramach pierwszego naboru Działania PROW „Współpraca”. Jedna z najlepiej ocenionych innowacji -  „Agroleśnictwo w Dolinie Zielawy” była przedstawiona przez lidera projektu Panią Małgorzatę Gałczyńską z Fundacji Rozwoju Lubelszczyzny oraz rolniczkę - Panią Barbarę Baj-Wójtowicz.

Why is difficult to commercialize innovation idea in Poland? Is it impeded by our mentality and lack of trust in society? Do we have enough knowledge and skills to develop innovation?
