Agroforestry is represented quite prominently in German TV and radio recently in the context of climate change and the resulting water crisis. The selected statements could help to transport the topic further into the population and politics. The need to improve the framework conditions is obvious.
The French Agroforestry Development Plan, running from 2015 to 2020, was set up by the French Government and coordinated by the Department of Agriculture, to develop and manage all agroforestry systems within the national territory; The Agroforestry Development Plan is part of the French Agroecology Project and covers five key domains:
Last September 4, deputy Peter Drenth has given the go-ahead to the Agroforestry Network Gelderland. It is a new provincial network like already is existing in the province of Brabant (100 farmers connected).
During these months affected by the pandemic due to SARS-CoV-2, information on mass media has highlighted the fact that Covid-19 was more diffused in highly air polluted areas suggesting possible links between air pollution and Covid-19.
In fact, looking at some Italian regions (Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna) where higher concentrations of air pollutants could be detected, the virus showed a more intense duffusion.
As agroforestry is nothing without trees and agriculture… EURAF is empty without its members!
Will farmers lose their "area-based" payments if they plant agroforestry? What about existing trees on farms - is the crown area of these deducted from payments? What difference does it make if the trees are marked as "Landscape Features" in IACS/LPIS?
