W dniach 20-25 września 2017 roku w Rzeszowie oraz w Parku Narodowym Gór Bukowych  (Węgry) odbyła się Międzynarodowa konferencja “Wooded rural landscapes in Central and Eastern Europe: biodiversity, cultural legacy and conservation” zorganizowana przez Uniwersytet Rzeszowski oraz Centrum Badań Ekologicznych Węgierskiej Akademii Nauk.

The first RAIN meeting in Hungary

The first Hungarian Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network meeting took place on 14 September 2017 in Szent István University (SZIE) Faculty of Horticultural Science in Budapest.
Vityi Andrea (project coordinator) and Fábián Zsófia (innovation broker - IB) from SoE-KKK -University of Sopron Cooperational Research Centre Nonprofit Ltd. chaired the meeting.

Première réunion du RAIN français: Partage des expériences sur le développement de l’agroforesterie dans le Sud-Ouest de la France.

Les membres du RAIN français se sont rencontrés pour la première fois le 25 Septembre 2017 dans les locaux de l’Institut du Développement Forestier (IDF) à Toulouse.

Fabien Balaguer, facilitateur du projet AFINET pour la France, animait la réunion, étayée par des contributions de Philippe Van Lerberghe, de l’IDF.

First French RAIN Meeting: Sharing Experiences on Agroforestry Development in South West France

The members of the French AFINET RAIN met for the first time on September 25th, 2017 at the Forestry Development Institute in Toulouse.

Fabien Balaguer (Innovation Broker for France) chaired the meeting with contributions from Philippe Van Lerberghe, from the Forestry Development Institute.

14 participants attended this first meeting, representing about 2/3 of the official RAIN members. The group included a wide diversity of stakeholders involved at the different stages of research and development in agroforestry, from species selection to economics.

1st RAIN meeting in Portugal

After several weeks of intense dissemination of the 1st PT RAIN meeting, a total of 30 RAIN members attended the 1st Portuguese meeting, that took place on the 12th of September, at the Observatório do Sobreiro e da Cortiça in Coruche.
Joana Amaral Paulo (the Innovation Broker) and João Palma from ISA chaired the meeting and discussion groups. 
30 RAIN members attended the meeting, which started with the presentation of the project, objectives and RAIN concept.

The first RAIN meeting in Finland

“The first Finnish Regional Agroforestry Innovation Network meeting took place on 14 September 2017 on a farm called Putkisalo Kartano near Rantasalmi in the Finnish lake district. Michael den Herder (the Innovation Broker) from the European Forest Institute and Henri Vanhanen from Natural Resources Institute Finland chaired the meeting.

1st RAIN meeting in Spain

On September 12th, the first Regional Innovation Agroforestry Network meeting was held in Galicia, Spain. The event was attended by nearly 30 participants, almost half of them practitioners. Within the group there were farmers, advisors, Rural Development technicians, members of the Galician Office of Climate Change, and the Galician Innovation Agency. The meeting took place at the Center for Scientific and Technological Support (CACTUS), which is located in Campus Terra, headquarters of Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Lugo.

AFINET Portuguese RAIN first meeting

Take a look how did it go the first portuguese RAIN meeting attended by a total of 30 RAIN members. During the meeting the participants were asked to identify bottlenecks/knowledge gaps and challenges/innovations from agroforestry systems covering silvopastoral, silvoarable and tree hedgerows systems.
