Planting the trees

Successfully planting a tree in agroforestry does not only mean buying good quality seedlings. Die off after planting is primarily attributable to inadequate management beforehand. Drying out of roots or exposure to excess sun, wind, or frost can substantially hamper the development of young trees.

Featured Farm of the day

"Rindergilde Geesthacht" and "Family Farm Staggen"

The two featured farms are both based in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein - Germany’s most sparsely wooded federal state, located between the Baltic and the Northern Sea in Northwestern Germany. In 2017, both farms won an award for their well-maintained ‘Knicks’.
